The start of winter doesn’t have to mean the end of your holiday planning. Winter holidays offer a whole new world of enjoyment. We may be more familiar with white sand beaches, but there are some fantastic winter locations available. All you have to do is search for them! Whether you want to go, skiing, snowboarding, or simply somewhere with snow, a winter holiday has got you covered! We’re going to take a look at Iceland because what better place is there for a winter escape? Here are a few things you won’t want to miss if you visit! Flickr Image
BLUE LAGOON If you like the idea of a holiday in the snow but don’t like cold, a visit to the Blue Lagoon geothermal spa could be the answer. This is one of Iceland’s most visited attractions, and it’s easy to see why. A trip here offers the chance to bathe in naturally warm waters. People flock from all over to bathe in these healing waters, so you won't want to miss the chance. They're said to heal various skin complaints and illnesses. Not only that, but you’ll get the opportunity to watch out for whales! THE NORTHERN LIGHTS Of course, no trip to Iceland would be complete without a viewing of the Northern Lights. Now is the perfect time of year to see the lights, and it’ll be an experience of a lifetime. Seeing the Northern Lights is one of the most rewarding winter activities in Iceland. Make the most of it during your stay! If you plan on seeing this spectacle, look into booking one of Iceland’s iconic glass igloos. That way, you can make the most of the experience. What better way to witness the magic? GOLDEN CIRCLE If you want to get to grips with a little of Iceland’s natural beauty, take a trip to the Golden Circle. The Golden Circle covers 190 miles and contains a multitude of wonders. A trip here will allow you to see the geysers at Strokkur, the Gullfoss waterfall, and Thingvellir national park. What better way to get to grips with the natural beauty of Iceland than seeing all these wonders? With so much on offer, it’s worth planning beforehand which areas you would most like to visit. Try and pick activities quite close together so that you can save on travel time! THE NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ICELAND After getting to grips with the natural beauty of Iceland, you might feel the urge to get to grips its history. Round your trip off with a visit to the National Museum of Iceland, where you’ll learn all about the country you’re visiting. Travel is a great time to get acquainted with new cultures, and what better way to do that than with a museum trip? Not to mention, it’s always nice to get a little culture while you’re away! A trip here is sure to teach you a few new things and could leave you seeing Iceland in a whole new light. MPL xx
