Time away can be the perfect excuse to escape the madness of everyday. Travelling broadens the mind and allows you the chance to enjoy some time in a new place. If you need an escape, a weekend in Boston could be just the thing. Sometimes we don’t have much time to put into our travelling plans. A weekend vacation somewhere nearby is all the escape that’s needed. If you’ve never been to Boston, it’s well worth the visit. Here are a few things that will set your time there off with a bang.
PLAN WHERE YOU’LL STAY
First on the agenda of any weekend trip is planning where you’ll stay. Boston has an array of fantastic hotels to choose from. If you’re splashing out, check out Harvard Square hotels and get stuck into a little luxury. Or, you could look out for the budget hotels on offer. Your weekend doesn’t have to cost the earth, after all. If you’re feeling adventurous, why not check out what Airbnb’s are on offer? Airbnb's are an excellent way to travel. The idea is that people offer up their spare rooms, and you rent them out. Not only is this cheaper, but it’s also a fantastic way to add authenticity to your trip. What better way to experience your destination than to stay with people who live there?
PLAN WHAT YOU’LL DO
There’s plenty to do in Boston, and as you only have a weekend, it’s worth planning your agenda. Choosing activities that are close together will save time. For activities that are further apart, plan your travel beforehand. Check out bus times to ensure you reach your destination hassle free. You could see the Freedom Trail, a 2.5-mile walk that will lead you right through the heart of Boston. This is an excellent choice, as you’ll get to see any sites you want to see on the way through. Or, get cultured with a visit to the Museum of Fine Arts. Here you’ll get the chance to see paintings by artists such as Monet and Van Gogh. The sports fans out there won’t want to miss the opportunity to see Fenway Park, either. This baseball park is the home of the Red Sox, and is sure to put on a game worth seeing during your stay!
PLAN WHAT YOU’LL EAT
Eating is an essential part of any trip. What better time to indulge than a holiday? As you’re only away for a weekend, it doesn’t matter if you get a little naughty with the food you eat. Boston has many culinary delights and is sure to meet your culinary needs. Seafood lovers should head to Summer Shack, where you’ll have a seafood feast unlike any other. If pizza is more to your taste, head to Area Four, where you’ll find wood oven pizzas to die for. If there’s a big group of you, head to Asta. Here you’ll all be able to try a variety of different culinary treats from the tasting menu.
