The thought of layering your clothes might give you flashbacks to when you were at school, and your mom told you “not to forget your coat.” But layering has come on significantly since then and is something that is inherently practical given that we’re right in the middle of Spring, one of the most annoying times of the year for choosing an outfit. One moment the sun is out, and it almost feels like summer, then next the clouds come over, and the rain starts pouring, reminding you that we’re not quite there yet.
This constant change in the weather can really play havoc with your choice of attire, making it difficult to know what to put on in the morning. This is why layering is essential. With layering, it doesn’t matter if you get a little too warm - you can always remove a layer or two. Plus, you get to wear more of your clothes more often, helping you to get the most out of them.
Here we’ve put together a few layering tricks that are both practical and stylish.
Pair A Black Roll Neck With Just About Anything
The weather can sometimes be very annoying, especially if you’ve got a special outfit in mind that you’d just love to wear, if only it was a little warmer. Fortunately, with a black polo neck underneath, you can. At Russia’s Fashion Week, Tine Andrea got around the problem of the country’s freezing weather by putting a black polo neck underneath a summery, floral-printed top. Rather than making the outfit look silly, the black polo neck actually added to its appeal, giving it an unexpected edge.
Tine Andrea didn’t stop with the black polo neck. She added a patent leather skirt too which overlapped a pair of black trousers, adding extra warmth to the lower part of her body in a way that was jaw-droppingly stylish and slick.
Use A Lightweight Mac As A Top Coat Layer
Now that winter is behind us, we can finally start wearing lighter coats. The best are lightweight macs. These are perfect for when you want to ditch your wool overcoat and just want something light to throw over a blazer. With a Dillards coupon code, you can pick one up for relatively little money too. Just make sure you wear it loose around the shoulders ready to pull it up the minute the rain starts.
White Shirts Are A Layering Essential
Just as the plain black polo neck is an important part of your layering, so too is the white shirt. White shirts are essential and go with practically any outfit. They look particularly good tucked away under dresses and add additional warmth without the weight. But you can experiment with them in all sorts of way. They look just as good under dresses as they do tucked into trousers or poking out the bottom of a jacket.
Wear Strapless Over A Shirt
You’d love to be able to wear your strapless top more often. But let’s be honest, the weather probably won’t allow it - at least for now. Not to worry, you can wear your strapless as a style belt around your middle.
