When you’re out travelling the world, seeing new places and having fun- the last thing you need is to be worrying about your appearance. Feeling self-conscious can really spoil your mood, and when there are so many incredible things to see and do it’s just not something you want to be thinking about. So to make sure you look great and feel confident for your next adventure, here are a few things to consider!
Travelling and experiencing new places means you’ll be grinning from ear to ear. Unless you’re conscious about your smile, that is! You don’t want to look miserable on all of your travel snaps because you’re too afraid to show your teeth. And when you’re out enjoying yourself, you don’t want to restrict or cover your mouth when you’re laughing or smiling. So visiting a dentist in advance of your travels is a good idea. First, they will be able to assess if there are any dental problems, this can prevent being struck down with a toothache while you’re away. They can also carry out any cosmetic work needed to improve how your teeth look. It could be anything from whitening to veneers. If crookedness is an issue, you could consider seeing an Invisalign dentist.
Low maintenance yet flattering hairstyles and colours are your best bet when you’re travelling. You don’t want to have to spend ages in front of the mirror each morning wrestling with a difficult hairdo so it can be worth giving things like extensions a miss. The same applies to colour, if you’ve got a shade that fades quickly or shows roots badly it could be worth changing it- especially if you’re travelling for weeks or months at a time. It might look great when you leave for your adventure, but terrible by the time you get home! Different climates can be very hard on hair too, such as extreme heat, cold or winds, plus salt and pool water and everything else. So getting it into the best condition possible before you leave is a good idea.
If you have any skin issues that cause you discomfort or embarrassment, have them checked out before you leave. Again different climates can be hard on skin, so if you already have a problem, it could be made worse by travel. The dry air on aeroplanes, in the sun and air conditioning can all wreak havoc as it is. Whether it’s acne, rosacea, eczema or something else- not only is it useful to get treated for travel, but you’ll feel better in your day to day life too.
Eating healthy and exercising before your travels can be useful for two reasons. First, you’ll look your best, and feel confident. You won’t have an issue wearing any of your travel outfits or swimwear, and won’t be held back by body confidence issues. Secondly, it will improve your health and fitness levels which is useful when you’re going away. If for example you’re backpacking or even just doing a lot of walking, it pays to be at the top of your fitness game. You’ll feel less tired and lethargic, and will be able to do more. Plus you might not be eating as healthily as you normally would while you’re away. So fuelling up with plenty of good stuff in the run-up is beneficial.
