Weddings are expensive. Therefore, if funds are tight, it makes sense to take on some of the tasks yourself. Or, delegate them to members of the wedding party. But there are some tasks that are best left to the professionals. Here’s why.
The majority of us now possess a cell phone, and we have access to photo sharing sites like Instagram. We can all make photos look pretty by using the filters. Once we amass a loyal following and build up our likes, it’s easy to get carried away. Even if our friends are always telling us that we have an eye for photography, shooting a wedding is completely different.
Wedding photos are a permanent reminder of our big day. They represent one of the most important decisions of our life. It’s really not worth taking a chance and leaving them to a well-meaning friend. With a professional wedding photographer, quality is guaranteed. You get to browse through their portfolio and check out previous work. And it doesn’t mean that you’re handing this over to someone else completely. You still have an input in the process and the kind of images taken. You will have time to discuss your ideas and theme. A good photographer will interpret this and deliver a set of beautiful prints you can treasure. And there’s nothing to stop your well-meaning friend from taking a few snaps. Just don’t leave it all to him/her.
We’ve all seen shows like The American Baking Competition. And we’re familiar with celebrity chefs and their work. We may even fancy ourselves as a bit of budding baker. But creating a wedding cake is quite different. The size and scope vary from our usual creations. Depending on the size of the wedding, it may need to be shared among several hundred people. This is something that will take center stage. Do you really want it to look amateurish? Unless you’re a professional baker, leave the cake to the experts. There are ways to keep costs down without compromising on quality.
Like cakes and photographs, entertainment is best left to the professionals. Don’t be swayed when your best man, best friend or uncle tell you they’re a bit of star with the decks. Your wedding reception is no place to experiment. A professional DJ not only will provide the equipment but they know what will work best in your venue. They do the job day in, day out. They can discuss your likes and the music that is significant to the couple and their family. There’s much more to it than an iPod and a speaker system.
Of course, if friends or family members are keen to do a set. Or, if you have a live band and a friend wants to dedicate a tune to the couple, this can be arranged. Discuss it in advance with the relevant people and let them have their moment. It can be a great way to make the night more personal. But leave the main entertainment to the professionals. Don’t leave it to chance.
There are many options when it comes to weddings. There are areas that you can tackle yourself. But the wedding photos, cake and entertainment should be left to the experts.
